New Residential Permit Parking Rules

September 27, 2025

The City of North Vancouver has introduced new residential permit parking rules.

Parking changes begin in Lower and Central Lonsdale starting from mid-September to November 2025, followed by a monitoring period in 2026. Further changes to this area may be made during this assessment period. Implementation will occur block-by-block in Lower Lonsdale, move to Central Lonsdale until mid-October, then expand outside core commercial areas to conclude mid-November.

The City is helping residents find parking near their homes by introducing permit parking on blocks with consistently high parking demand. By changing to a neighbourhood permit area system, residents who are permit holders will have access to more parking near their home, beyond their immediate block face. Adjusting time-of-day restrictions to 2 hours from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. except with permit, to provide additional priority for residents, while still allowing those without a permit to park for shorter stays

Other neighbourhoods across the City experiencing high demand for curb space can expect parking changes starting in 2027. Permit parking will also transition to a neighbourhood zone approach, allowing permit holders to park anywhere in their permit zone, including accessing space around the corner from home or a block away.

Residents of Zone E30 (Central Lonsdale 6th Street to 13th Street) may now apply for permits through the City. Each household may obtain up to two permits, the first costs $8.33 per month, and the second $12.50 per month. In addition, visitor and contractor passes remain available.

How to Apply

Applications for residential permits can be made through the City of North Vancouver’s online services portal, or in person at City Hall. Proof of residency and vehicle ownership will be required.
